HARRISBURG, Pa. — Nobuntu, an all-female, a cappella quintet from Zimbabwe, will perform at Penn State Harrisburg at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, in the Mukund S. Kulkarni Theatre in the Student Enrichment Center on campus.
The award-winning quintet brings exhilarating sounds of traditional and contemporary African music, ranging from folk tunes to Afro Jazz to Gospel. Group members include Duduzile Sibanda, Zanele Manhenga, Heather Dube, Thandeka Moyo and Joyline Sibanda. The ensemble’s concerts are performed with pure voices, augmented by minimalistic percussion, traditional instruments such as the Mbira (thumb piano), and dance movements.
Following the concert, audience members may join the women of Nobuntu for a post-show meet-and-greet reception featuring coffees and sweets. The reception is supported by the Penn State Harrisburg Diversity and Educational Equity Committee.
Tickets for the show are $15, with $5 tickets for Penn State Harrisburg students. Tickets and information can be found at harrisburg.psu.edu/boxoffice.
