Stay connected to campus with PSUAlert

PSUAlert is an easy and accessible system that notifies users via e-mail or cell phone in the event of a campus closure or emergency. All Penn State students, faculty, and staff are automatically signed up to receive e-mail alerts via their Penn State e-mail address. Users with a Penn State access account are asked to update their contact settings in PSUAlert with their preferred e‑mail addresses and cell phone numbers. Users are encouraged to opt-in to text message alerts for easy access to alert messages.

Penn State Harrisburg keeps students, faculty, and staff informed of important weather notifications and emergencies affecting campus through the PSUAlert system, Facebook page, Twitter feed and the campus website. The college also provides information via e-mail. Local television and radio stations communicate information about delays, cancellations, or other emergencies to the public.

Although the PSUAlert system is reserved for students, faculty and staff, members of the public can follow alerts via Facebook and Twitter. Specific links for those who wish to follow PSUAlert messages are available at news.psu.edu/PSUAlert-social online. For more information about PSUAlert, visit the FAQ.

Although classes and events may be cancelled or delayed due to inclement weather, the campus remains open to provide critical services to the students who live on campus, including housing and food. Police services and other emergency services also remain operational around the clock, regardless of the weather.

When Penn State Harrisburg announces a delayed opening time, classes and activities announced that begin before any announced delay time are canceled. Classes or activities beginning at or after the delay time will be held as originally scheduled. For example, when it is announced that the campus will open at 10 a.m. due to inclement weather, classes that begin before 10 a.m. are canceled and will not be held. Classes beginning at 10 a.m. or later will continue on their regular schedule. Another example would be an announcement of an early closure at 3 p.m. Classes beginning at 3 p.m. or later are canceled and will not be held.
