The Penn State Harrisburg Center for Holocaust and Jewish Studies will present a screening of the documentary film “In Her Own Time: The Final Fieldwork of Barbara Myerhoff,” on Tuesday, March 27 at 4:30 p.m. in W338 Olmsted Building on campus.

This 1985 documentary follows the work of anthropologist Dr. Barbara Myerhoff. While studying Jewish Orthodoxy in Los Angeles, California, Myerhoff learned she had cancer. The resulting film blends her ethnographic fieldwork and her reflections on her own relationship to her Jewish heritage. “In Her Own Time” engages with matters of religious and social values and the importance of ritual in personal, family, and community life.

This event is free and open to the public.
