How many applicants are offered admission each year?
Each year approximately 7 to 8 students are accepted for admission. The program’s capacity is 15 students.

Students may also obtain a nationally recognized credential in Retail Industry Fundamentals from the NRF Foundation, as well as a ServSafe Food Handler credential from the National Restaurant Association by successfully passing exams.

How are students supported?
Peer mentors support Career Studies students by providing academic class support and social support. Penn State Harrisburg undergraduate and graduate students work as peer mentors. Prior to working with students, peer mentors undergo background checks as required by state law and Penn State University policy. They receive training in their role prior to the beginning of the semester and throughout the school year.
