Program fund created in honor of Clifford Jones

Since the creation of Penn State Harrisburg in 1966, Clifford Jones has been a tireless advocate on behalf of the college and its students.

That indispensible legacy is being honored through the newly established Cliff Jones Program Fund for Good Government, announced at the October Alumni Awards banquet.

College participating in Toys for Tots campaign

Penn State Harrisburg is again participating in the annual Toys for Tots campaign in conjunction with the Harrisburg office of the U.S. Marine and Naval Reserve Center.

Collection bins for the campaign, which runs from November 2 through December 8, will be placed throughout campus for donations of new or gently used toys. Bins will be located in Olmsted Building, the Capital Union Building, Bookstore, and the library on campus.

Alumni Society hands out annual awards

Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Jeffrey Miller, the late Harrisburg businessman and philanthropist John O. Vartan, and the president and CEO of UGI Utilities David Trego were among the graduates honored at Penn State Harrisburg's Alumni Awards Banquet Friday, Oct. 19.

Contributions recognize Charles Cole's distinguished service

For 35 years, Dr. Charles A. Cole was at the forefront of environmental education at Penn State Harrisburg - and throughout the nation and the world.

School of Science, Engineering, and Technology director, professor, Fullbright recipient, trainer, and sought-after consultant, Dr. Cole concluded distinguished service to Penn State Harrisburg and the University this summer with his retirement as professor emeritus.

Russell Horn creates scholarship

Penn State Harrisburg continues to benefit from York resident Russell E. Horn’s lifelong love for the University. Horn recently established the Russell E. Horn Trustee Matching Scholarship at Penn State Harrisburg.

Alumni honored by Business Journal

Three Penn State Harrisburg graduates have been named to the prestigious “40 Under 40” list announced by the Central Penn Business Journal.

The annual listing, published for more than a decade and chosen by a team of judges, features area professionals under the age of 40 “who contribute to the vibrancy of the region’s economy and their community.”

Ceremony to honor veterans November 8

 

Lt. Col. Burt A. Biebuyck will be the guest speaker when Penn State Harrisburg honors the nation's veterans on Thursday, Nov. 8.

The ceremony in advance of next week's official Veterans Day will be at 12:30 p.m. on the plaza in front of the flagpole adjacent to the main entrance of the library. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremonies will move inside to the library's Morrison Gallery.

Penn State Harrisburg's fall enrollment surpasses 3,900

 

High demand by students seeking admission to Penn State Harrisburg has resulted in record enrollment of more than 3,900 this fall at the college.

University figures just released show 2,435 undergraduate and 1,472 graduate students now attend Penn State Harrisburg.
