Business students join international honor society

Forty-eight students from Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Business Administration have been inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honors society that recognizes students in the top 10 percent of baccalaureate and top 20 percent of graduate programs at schools accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International.

Autumn Proctor, a Junior enrolled in the Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Concentration, is the recipient of the Donna Gail Shaw scholarship sponsored by Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education. She is the third undergraduate student in the history of the college's KDP Sigma Alpha Chapter to receive a scholarship from the organization.

Boyd named NCAA statistical champion

Accolades keep coming for Penn State Harrisburg softball player Kara Boyd (Alexandria, PA/Juniata Valley).

Boyd has been named the 2011 NCAA Division III Statistical Champion for triples per game (.27), making her the first Penn State Harrisburg athlete to earn such a title. She also was named the North Eastern Athletic Conference softball Player of the Year and made the all-conference first team as a pitcher and outfielder.

Kurt Moses named honorary Penn State alum

Long-time Penn State Harrisburg champion, Holocaust survivor, author, and lecturer Kurt Moses was named an honorary alumnus by the Penn State Alumni Association at a recognition ceremony June 3 at University Park.

Mara receives alumni award

Dr. Cynthia Mara, Penn State Harrisburg associate professor emerita of health care administration, has received the 2011 Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Virginia School of Nursing.

Given by the Nursing Alumni Association, the award each year honors one alumnus who has significantly contributed to the nursing profession.

Veder receives Harvard fellowship

Robin Veder, associate professor of humanities and art history/visual culture at Penn State Harrisburg, has received a fellowship at Harvard University’s Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection for the 2011-2012 academic year.
