‘Mythbuster’ Grant Imahara comes to campus Saturday, Feb. 2

Grant Imahara says he does more than play a geek on TV. "I am a geek on TV," he adds.

The host of "Mythbusters" on the Discovery Channel, Imahara brings his presentation from one of television’s hottest shows to Penn State Harrisburg Saturday, Feb. 2 at 8 p.m.

Imahara’s "Inside the Scientist’s Studio" program is free and open to the public in the Capital Union Building on Campus. For information, phone 717-948-6701.

‘Entertainer of the Year’ comes to campus Jan. 30

Named Campus Activities magazine’s 2007 Entertainer of the Year, Justin Kredible’s mix of comedy and magic has established him as one of America’s premiere performers.

Penn State Harrisburg will present Justin’s show at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30 in the Multipurpose Room of its Community Center. The performance is free and open to the public. For information, phone 717-948-6701.

Football star turned poet performs on campus February 14

As a 6-4, 300-pound former football star, Travis Watkins doesn’t seem to fit the image of a stereotypical spoken word poet.

Yet as the winner of the coveted National College Language Association Award for poetry and a top eight National Poetry Slam ranking, it’s clear he is not concerned with images and stereotypes.

College co-sponsors Capital Area Science and Engineering Fair

The best and brightest area junior high and high school scientists, mathematicians, and engineers will gather at the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts in downtown Harrisburg for the 51st annual Capital Area Science and Engineering Fair Feb. 13 to 16.

Penn State Harrisburg is joining other area colleges and universities, the Whitaker Center, and the Harrisburg Patriot-News as a co-sponsor.

25 area schools compete in MATHCOUNTS competition Feb. 9

Hershey Middle School will be seeking its fifth consecutive championship when teams from 25 area schools converge on Penn State Harrisburg for the 24th annual MATHCOUNTS competition.

More than 180 area schoolchildren are registered to participate in the day-long competition which begins with the "Sprint Round" at 9:45 a.m. and closes with the "Countdown Round" at 1:05 p.m. The awards presentation is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Martin Luther King Day poster designed by Youthana Yuos

Student’s art featured on King Day poster

This month’s celebration of Martin Luther King Day at Penn State Harrisburg will feature a poster designed by Harrisburg resident Youthana Yuos.

The poster with Yous’ design will be placed throughout campus and an accompanying pin featuring the graphic will be available. His design was chosen from among the entries in a contest coordinated by the college’s Diversity and Educational Equity Committee.

Art exhibit features work of midstate women

Original hand-pulled prints created by two midstate women are on public display through March 31 at Penn State Harrisburg.

Entitled "Two Women, Two Cultures," the exhibit featuring the work of Rizqana Sohail Riarh and Sarah Anne Frotscher is free and open to the public in the main central hallway of Olmsted Building.
