Eva J. Pell to deliver fall commencement keynote

Penn State Harrisburg will hold its fall commencement on Saturday, December 19 at 9:30 a.m. at the Giant Center, Hershey, Pennsylvania.  More than 650 degrees will be conferred at the ceremony.

Dr. Eva J. Pell, recently retired under secretary for science at the Smithsonian Institution and former Penn State senior vice president for research and dean of the Graduate School, will deliver the keynote address at the ceremony.

American studies doctoral student receives American Folklore Society Award

Traci Langworthy, an American studies doctoral student, received the 2015 Bertrand H. Bronson Student Paper Prize presented by the American Folklore Society for the best student project that combines research and analysis of some aspect of a music or song tradition.

She is the first recipient of the award from Penn State.

Panel examines race in the media

Penn State Harrisburg's Diversity and Educational Equity Committee recently hosted a panel discussion on “Race and the Media,” one of several discussions designed to “start conversations on topics related to race that may be difficult to start outside of a structured environment,” according to moderator Noah Roufos-Abbey, Associate Director of Development.
