A 5-kilometer “pasta run/walk” to benefit the United Way of the Capital Region comes to Penn State Harrisburg Thursday, Sept. 17.
Sponsored by San Giorgio, the race, entirely on campus and open to both runners and walkers, will kick off at 6:15 p.m. from the front of the Capital Union Building. The course is a combination of grass, trails, and paved surfaces.
The more than 60 students who attended Shanelle Gabriel’s spoken word performance on campus recently, got more than an evening of Stacks Stage entertainment. The enthusiastic crowd also received a number of lessons in life.
Area residents headed for their first semester as Penn State students at locations across the Commonwealth were given a fun-filled send-off August 9 on the Penn State Harrisburg campus.
Full scholarships are now available to schoolteachers enrolling in Penn State Harrisburg’s statewide English as a Second Language certificate program.
Supported by a federal grant program entitled ESL SCOPE (Secondary Content Online Preparation Program) and launched a year ago, the certificate program is now available on-line to more effectively meet the needs of pre-kindergarten through grade 12 teachers across the Commonwealth.
Penn State Harrisburg, with the largest selection of master’s and doctoral programs in the region, is hosting a Graduate School Information Night at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15 in the campus library.
Persons attending will have the opportunity to meet and talk with faculty, obtain application, registration, and financial aid information, and learn about Penn State Harrisburg’s 22 master’s and three doctoral programs. Certificate and certification programs are also available.

After a successful January kickoff of courses, Penn State Harrisburg is increasing the number of academic offerings at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for employees of Penn State Hershey, their families, and any adult working in the Hershey area.
Employees who have recently joined the faculty and staff ranks at Penn State Harrisburg were introduced as part of the annual All-College Day convocation on campus.
