Appointments
If a tutor is available when you drop in, the tutor will assist you. However, we recommend an appointment, particularly if the time you have available for tutoring is limited. It is more likely that you can schedule a preferred day and time if you schedule a day or two before your deadline.
Confidentiality
We do not discuss your work with your professor unless you give us permission to do so.
Cost
There is no cost for students enrolled at Penn State. It is a service provided by the University.
Eligibility
Any student currently enrolled at Penn State Harrisburg in the course for which he/she wishes to be tutored is eligible.
World Campus Students
These requests are decided on a case-by-case basis, since there are details that need to be clarified by the World Campus instructor. Usually we can tutor you, but the World Campus instructor needs to be informed and give us guidelines.
Limits on the number of hours a student can be tutored
Students are limited to three hours per week per course for peer tutoring, three hours per week for writing tutoring, and three hours per week for academic success coaching. Please note, to serve as many students as possible, tutoring limits are subject to change based on demand and tutor availability. If a tutor or coach is available, students may drop in for additional time.
Courses available for tutoring
Tutors are available for many 100 and 200 level courses. If you need tutoring in a course we do not typically tutor (like 300 and 400 level courses), we may not have tutors available. You should work closely with your instructor and classmates for additional support in the class.
