Student Testimonials

The career closet at Penn State Harrisburg has been a valuable resource to me for the past two years. Finances can get tight very quickly as a non-traditional student returning to school while providing for a family! I have utilized the career closet the past two years when I started an internship with an engineering firm that I hope to work at upon graduation. Between the career closet and secondhand stores, I have been able to be fully prepared for work in a professional setting. This was important as my previous career in construction did not provide any contribution towards business formal or casual attire! The staff there has been helpful, and I found everything I needed plus shoes and a tie. It was also great to find some clothes in the closet that were new that I would not have been able to afford. This is a great program and I hope to pay it forward when I have steady income again soon. Thanks for the Career Closet Program!

The career closet will definitely be visited again in my future. I hope to find many different outfits to wear for future speeches and job interviews. There is a section of nice women’s shirts as well if you are just looking for a nice top. When I graduate, I plan to donate some of my clothes back to it for other students to use. I hope the career closet benefits them as much as it has benefited me already.
To new students, don’t hesitate to check it out! You could find a cool outfit that you’d wear for a long time.”

One of the invaluable resources that Penn State Harrisburg Career Services offers is the Career Closet. This service allows students to borrow professional attire for interviews, career fairs, and other important events. Being an international student, I initially struggled to find appropriate professional clothing that would align with the cultural expectations and norms of the American corporate environment. But the Career Closet helped me throughout my time at Penn State Harrisburg to dress myself in a professional setting.
