Curriculum

The M.S. in Kinesiology requires 30 credits and offers two completion options.

Thesis Track (30 Credits)

  • 6 credits in Kinesiology graduate study areas
  • 6 credits outside the Kinesiology program
  • KINES 590: Colloquium (2 semesters, 2 credits)
  • 10 credits of approved electives
  • KINES 600: Thesis Research (6 credits)

Scholarly Paper Track (30 Credits)

  • 6 credits in Kinesiology graduate study areas
  • 6 credits outside the Kinesiology program
  • KINES 590: Colloquium (2 semesters, 2 credits)
  • 13 credits of approved electives
  • KINES 596: Individual Studies (3 credits)

Additional Requirements

  • All required courses must be completed with a quality letter grade.
  • Specializations may require additional coursework.
  • At least 18 credits must be at the 500/600 level (600-level courses are limited to the thesis track).
  • Complete at least 12 credits of coursework (excluding research) in the major.
  • A maximum of 6 credits at the 400 level may count toward the degree.
  • Up to 6 credits of KINES 596 may count toward the Kinesiology credit requirement.
    Complete Scholarship and Research Integrity (SARI) training and demonstrate English proficiency.
  • Form a master's committee and successfully complete a thesis or scholarly paper, along with the required defense or oral presentation. Final approved work must be submitted to the appropriate University and College repositories.
