MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg will welcome Kehbuma Langmia, chair of the Department of Strategic, Legal and Management Communication in Howard University's School of Communications, on April 1 and 2.

Langmia’s visit is made possible though a Penn State Humanities Institute Humanities in the World Lecture Series grant received by Beatrice Epwene, assistant teaching professor of communications, in the college’s School of Humanities.

Events during Langmia’s visit include:

Monday, April 1

  • "Research Workshop" with Epwene and Langmia demonstrating how the scientific process works in the humanities, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Olmsted Building Gallery Lounge, room W107
  • "Misinformation, Miscommunication and Deepfakes in Social Media" presentation by Langmia, 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. in the Olmsted Building Gallery Lounge, room W107

Tuesday, April 2

  • Langmia to present “How Students Inspired an Instructor to Find His Voice (Decolonizing Communication Theories)” in the Student Enrichment Center (SEC) Spiritual Center from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The presentation will be followed by a meet and greet book exhibition in the SEC Lobby from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Langmia is a Fulbright Scholar and professor. Along with being a prolific writer and scholar, he also is a seasoned actor known in the Cameroonian community and throughout the diaspora.

Langmia is a graduate from the communication and media studies program at Howard University and has extensive knowledge and expertise in information communication technology, Intercultural, cross cultural and international communication, Black diaspora communication theory, decolonial media studies, social media and Afrocentricity.

He has published 18 books, 21 book chapters and 15 peer-reviewed journal articles nationally and internationally. Langmia spends his time giving back and traveling the world to exchange learning and Ideas with scholars globally. Read more about Langmia here.
