MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — Senel Poyrazli, professor of counseling psychology, received the Excellent Contribution Award and the Outstanding International Psychologist Award from the American Psychological Association (APA) for her global contribution to the counseling psychology field. 

Poyrazli received her awards at the 2021 APA Conference in August.

"I was glad that all these international activities in psychology that I’ve been engaging in since I was a doctoral student — for the past 25 years — have been recognized,” Poyrazli said.

The Excellent Contribution Award, presented by APA Division 17, Society of Counseling Psychology, International Section, is awarded to recipients who have met at least one of the following criteria: international counseling psychology research, cross-cultural collaboration, and service or training with an international focus. 

Poyrazli received the Outstanding International Psychologist Award from APA Division 52, International Psychology, because of her achievements in research, teaching, advocacy and contributions to international organizations.
