Human resources management concentration meets national educational guidelines

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has announced that Penn State Harrisburg’s human resource management concentration in the management academic program has renewed its alignment with the group’s HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates through 2025.

The most recent evaluation by the SHRM is the third for Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Business Administration. Once again, the concentration has been determined to align with Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and SHRM standards.

“The maintenance of the SHRM alignment is an indication of a program that is progressing to uphold the standards of the AACSB,” said Raymond Gibney Jr., associate professor of management.  “In addition to updating the program to meeting changing standards, the study of human resource management at the college has also grown. The program also has seen the addition of a human resource minor.”

SHRM, the premier human resource management organization, developed the HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates to define the minimum content areas that students should study at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The guidelines are part of SHRM’s Academic Initiative to define HR education standards taught in university business schools and help universities develop degree programs that follow these standards.
