The certificate program in Policy Analysis and Evaluation is offered by the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program at Penn State Harrisburg. The MPA program is accredited by NASPAA, the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration. NASPAA, the recognized global accreditor of graduate programs in public policy, affairs, and administration, works to ensure excellence in education and training for public service.
The primary goal of the certificate program is to prepare policy analysts, policy/program evaluation specialists, and program and service managers who work for governments and not-for-profit organizations for professional analytical tasks.
The 12-credit curriculum is designed to provide students with a set of interdisciplinary competencies and rigorous analytical tools to conduct various public policy analysis and program evaluation tasks. Students will gain rigorous theoretical and practical knowledge in research and evaluation designs and data collection and data analysis methods. These methods include, but not limited to, various spreadsheet applications, geospatial analyses, forecasting, regression analysis methods, and cost-benefit analysis.
Courses taken in this certificate program may be applied toward the completion of the MPA program.
