Rosemary Yee
Graduate Student
Carolyn Kitch, Ph.D.

I began graduate study in Penn State Harrisburg’s American Studies Program after working for a decade in the magazine industry. The program was an ideal transition, offering a wealth of interdisciplinary perspectives that I could apply to studying magazines as a form of cultural history, the foundation for my research career. I especially appreciated the close and generous guidance I received from faculty and the access I had to the Alice Marshall Women’s History Collection, which I have used for several book projects. I remain very grateful for the culture of the American Studies program, a combination of freedom and high standards that set me on my academic path.

Amy Bischof

An independent study with a labor historian turned out to be the most helpful class I took while at Penn State Harrisburg. Not only did I learn about a subject I love, I became a better critical thinker, researcher, and writer because of it. These skills help me in my job every day!
