The Center's research and development activities are focused on signal integrity analysis of high speed interconnects at the pre-competitive level. For the upcoming fiscal year, the Center will focus its research focus, which were consulted with and agreed on with connector companies that belong to the Center's Steering Committee. The particular research topics are:
- Footprint performance modeling with respect to data losses, crosstalk and time delays;
- New test methodologies for the connector models;
- De-embedding techniques in signal integrity;
- Phase ambiguity problem and calibration techniques to eliminate it;
- Evaluation of Relative Humidity and Temperature Effects on Scattering Parameters in Transmission Systems;
- Method for Restoring Passivity in S-Parameters Using Singular Value Decomposition;
- Characterization of VNA measurements performances using stochastic models and prediction of residual errors after calibration;
- Measurements Spectral content of various encoding schemes and the impact on pre-emphasis;
- An Improved Phase De-Embedding Technique for High Speed Connectors; and
- Advanced Jitter Analysis through direct computation of probabilities.
