MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — Vahid Motevalli, interim vice chancellor for academic affairs at Penn State Harrisburg, is among 30 higher education leaders selected to participate in the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) 2025 Becoming a Provost Academy. Offered in partnership with the American Academic Leadership Institute, the academy will kick off its programming during the AASCU 2025 Summer Meeting for Academic and Student Affairs Leaders, taking place July 17-18 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

“I am pleased to participate in the AASCU Becoming a Provost Academy,” Motevalli said. “Leadership development is a continuous journey. There are a variety of challenges in leadership that require fresh thinking and innovative approaches, regardless of past experiences. I look forward to this learning opportunity to further enhance my leadership skills and bring back new ideas.”

The Becoming a Provost Academy is a leadership program tailored to the distinctive needs of aspiring provosts. The program provides comprehensive preparation in the areas of most critical concern to provosts. It also helps participants gain a better understanding of the broader context within which their own institutions operate and develop perspectives beyond their current position, division and institution. The cohort also allows members the opportunity to network and engage in peer-to-peer learning.

The American Association of State Colleges and Universities is a Washington, D.C.-based higher education association that represents more than 500 regional public colleges, universities and systems whose members share a learning- and teaching-centered culture, a commitment to underrepresented student populations, and a dedication to research and creativity that advances their regions’ economic progress and cultural development.
