Eligibility:
This gift shall be used to establish an endowment to be known and referred to as the "Wallis Family Scholarship." Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to full-time undergraduate students majoring or planning to major in Mechanical Engineering Technology in the School of Science, Engineering, and Technology at Penn State Harrisburg, or successor academic major/unit, who have achieved a minimum grade point average of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale), and who have a demonstrated financial need for funds to meet their necessary college expenses (the "General Eligibility Criteria"). From the identified pool of eligible recipients, and to the extent possible, first preference shall be given to students who are members of the Society of Automotive Engineers Chapter at Penn State Harrisburg (SAE) and/or American Society of Mechanical Engineers Chapter at Penn State Harrisburg (ASME), or successor organizations. If no students meet the first preference in a given year or if there are sufficient funds to award additional scholarships beyond the eligible recipients who meet the first preference, available funds will be awarded to any student based on the General Eligibility Criteria, regardless of preference. The University may modify or disregard any selection criteria if determined to be contrary to law or then existing University policy. Each scholarship shall be awarded for one academic year and may be renewed for subsequent years providing the recipient continues to meet the conditions of eligibility and funds are available.
