Dr. David M. Callejo Pérez is the Interim Chancellor of Penn State Harrisburg. He previously served the university as Associate Vice President and Senior Associate Dean and Professor of Education. Prior to coming to Penn State, Callejo Pérez was associate provost at Saginaw Valley State University, as well as interim dean of the College of Education. His professional experience also includes serving as a professor of curriculum studies and research at West Virginia University and assistant professor of curriculum studies and educational foundations at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Callejo Pérez’s research focuses on curriculum studies, civil rights, urban schools and higher education with a theoretical and historical approach to research on identity, Hispanic issues, educational policy, curriculum and evaluation. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and refereed academic papers; as well as 7 books. David has also worked as PI and evaluator in over $10 million in research and curriculum development projects in the US and abroad.

Callejo Pérez received his bachelor’s degree in history and sociology from Florida International University, his master’s degree in history from the University of Mississippi and his doctorate in curriculum studies from Florida International University.
