Cindy works under the Global Programs Office (University Park) and serves the Penn State Harrisburg international students as an International Student Adviser regarding immigration issues. Cindy has a long-term career in International Education. Cindy holds a BA in Sociology (Calvin University) and a MA in Higher Education (Geneva College). She coordinated and directed international service-learning for teams and individuals and established the Service Learning Center at Messiah College (PA). Cindy spent six years in Belize, Central America where she directed a semester-long study abroad program, worked with US faculty to develop short-term academic courses and served as a travel writer, photographer and website developer for the Belize Tourism Board. After relocating back to the US, Cindy recruited international students for a private university and advised international students regarding immigration issues. She has also served in Global Inside Sales at The Hershey Company and run a small fair trade business combating poverty and human-trafficking. With travel to 38 countries (not including return visits), she has experienced global hospitality that fuels her desire to welcome and serve students while they are in the USA.
