
Biography
Andi Carter writes in all media for the stage including plays, comedy sketches, musicals, and operas. He holds an MFA in Musical Theatre Writing from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He is a 2023-2025 librettist fellow with American Opera Projects in Brooklyn, NY. He is the founder and Artistic Director of Fish out of Water Productions, a cross-cultural theatre collective created in Beijing, China in 2008. He is a founding board member of Musical Theatre Factory in NYC which has developed hundreds of new musicals since 2014 including Broadway and Off-Broadway hits. He also enjoys making short films and was a 2021 Documentary Intensive fellow with BRIC Arts Media in Brooklyn, NY. He moved back to Pennsylvania to be close to family and he is happy to be at Penn State Harrisburg. Andi has been teaching writing since 2002 and he is excited to work with students who come from various backgrounds including international students. His love of helping students is motivated by his passion for writing and its power in his own life.
