Students will have an opportunity to meet with Chancellor Mukund Kulkarni on Tuesday, October 6 during “Chancellor's Open Hours.” The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Olmsted Building atrium and will feature an informal discussion and light refreshments.

Knowing the code to help others

Armed with a crisp new suit and a wheelchair, electrical engineering graduate students Darshan Karnawat and Tapan Khilnani set off for the LeadingAge Hackfest competition last October in Nashville, Tennessee. They were looking for a way to get more involved with extracurricular activities; what they got was more life-changing than they could have imagined.

Dr. Bing Ran, associate professor of public administration in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Public Affairs, recently was elected as chair of the Organizational Theory Division of the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada (ASAC) after serving as the divisional coordinator and editor over the past two years.

Cigler receives top teaching award

Dr. Beverly Cigler, distinguished professor of public policy and administration in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Public Affairs, has received the 2015 Leslie A. Whittington Award for Excellence in Teaching, given by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA).

Huss to discuss technology transfer and intellectual property

Dr. Ronald Huss, associate vice president for research and technology transfer at Penn State, will present “Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property at Penn State” on Wednesday, September 23 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Olmsted Building Gallery Lounge on campus.

Huss will discuss the Penn State technology transfer process, the different types of intellectual property, entrepreneurship, and more.

Penn State Harrisburg hosts Graduate School Open House, Sept. 17

Penn State Harrisburg will hold a Graduate School Open House on Thursday, September 17 at 6 p.m. in the campus library.

Guests will have the opportunity to meet with faculty and learn about Penn State Harrisburg’s more than 30 master’s and doctoral degrees. Information also will be available on financial aid, post baccalaureate certificates, joint degree programs, and more.
