14 faculty members earn promotions

Fourteen Penn State Harrisburg faculty members have earned promotions in academic rank from the University, effective July 1, 2007.

Promoted to professor are:

  • Shaun L. Gabbidon, criminal justice;

  • Steven A. Melnick, education;

  • Girish H. Subramanian, information systems;

  • Yuefeng Xie, environmental engineering; and

Mechanicsburg artists work on exhibit through Sept. 30

Refined abstract paintings and mixed media works by Mechanicsburg artist Andrea Lynn Lentz are on public display through September 30 in the main central hallway of Penn State Harrisburg’s Olmsted Building.

Lentz’s free exhibit, presented by the college in partnership with the Art Association of Harrisburg, is available from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and weekends.

Timothy Breneisen joins Recycling Markets Center

Timothy J. Breneisen is the new recycling program manager for the Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center, effective July 16.

The Recycling Markets Center, headquartered at Penn State Harrisburg, is a nonprofit organization charged with reducing barriers to development of markets for recyclable materials in the Commonwealth. The center is support in part by grant funds from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.

Schwab Family Holocaust Reading Room dedicated

With the creation of the Schwab Family Holocaust Reading Room, Penn State Harrisburg now has a visible centerpiece in its effort to establish the first Holocaust Study Center in the region.

A community and University focal point for Holocaust education, the Schwab Family Holocaust Reading Room is the result of a generous donation from Harrisburg resident Linda Schwab and the late Morris Schwab.

That burgeoning industrial expansion has created a need for business managers to organize and direct the movement of goods.

Penn State Harrisburg, recognized for its leadership in logistics and supply chain management education, takes another step toward filling that regional professional void this fall.

Security and Risk Analysis undergraduate major now available

Modern-day concern over information security and analysis has led Penn State to develop a model program that will address the growing demand for specialists in security and intelligence.

That academic program, the Bachelor of Science in Security and Risk Analysis, will be available at Penn State Harrisburg beginning this summer.
