Namesake of campus cultural center, LaGrone made an impact

Oliver LaGrone and his characteristic phrase, “I say this to say that,” left an indelible mark on those he met. 

Students, faculty, and staff recently joined together in the Oliver LaGrone Cultural Center at Penn State Harrisburg to celebrate the life and legacy of the room’s namesake. LaGrone would have turned 107 years old in December 2013.

Daniela Schiller to present on erasing fear memories

Dr. Daniela Schiller will present Changing Fear Memories on Thursday, March 20 at noon in the Penn State Harrisburg Olmsted Building Gallery Lounge.  This discussion will focus on her work on the neural mechanisms of emotional control and potential ways to modify or “erase” fear memories.

Panelists to discuss cybersecurity

Penn State Harrisburg will host an Academic Perspectives on Current Events discussion on cybersecurity on Wednesday, March 5, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Olmsted Building Gallery Lounge.

Lee’s research examines police decision-making

Dr. Joongyeup Lee, assistant professor of criminal justice in the Penn State Harrisburg School of Public Affairs, focuses his research on why criminals and police do what they do. His recent studies look at psychological dynamics of juvenile recidivism, situational weapon use in domestic violence, and police decision making.

After a breaking the college’s previous record last year by raising over $53,000, Penn State Harrisburg will have four dancers representing the campus, February 21 - 23, at the 46-hour Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon commonly known as THON.
