When Dat Vo transferred to Penn State Harrisburg as a junior, he didn’t imagine his classes would teach him how to build a robotic mouse to enter a multi-state competition. Or, that he would take first place.
Penn State Harrisburg will host an Undergraduate Open House on Saturday, April 13 at 9:00 a.m. in the Capital Union Building.
The event will present information to prospective students about the college’s more than 30 bachelor’s degree programs and options for completing the first two years of study leading to more than 160 undergraduate majors offered throughout Penn State.
Portions of College Avenue and O Street will close on Friday, April 5 while a manhole and sewer line are installed as part of the Educational Activities Building (EAB) expansion. The roads are expected to reopen on Wednesday, April 10.
In an ongoing effort to bring greater awareness to sexual violence and child abuse, several Penn State events are being held during the month of April, which has been designated Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Prevention Month.
A commemorative bench has been purchased in memory of Dr. Howard Sachs, former professor of biology, educator, administrator, scientist, and friend of Penn State Harrisburg. Dr. Sachs served the college from 1987 to 2011. He died in 2011.
Penn State Harrisburg faculty and staff will review online privacy implications and strategies for personal protection during a panel discussion “Privacy and Piracy While Connected: The Cloud, Smartphones, and Social Media” on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at noon in the Olmsted Building Gallery Lounge. Part of the college’s Academic Perspectives on Current Events series, this event is free and open to the public.
Penn State Harrisburg recognized outstanding employee contributions at the 2013 Faculty and Staff Recognition Program on Thursday, March 28. Theresa Flores, human trafficking survivor, author, and victim’s advocate, will present “The Slave Across the Street” at Penn State Harrisburg on Thursday, April 4. Two sessions will be offered: 12:00 p.m.-1:15 p.m. in the Library’s Morrison Gallery and 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the Capital Union Building (CUB) Student Center. The presentations are free and open to the public.
Angela Rose, sexual assault and violence prevention advocate, will give a presentation on Tuesday, April 2, 12:00-1:30 p.m. in the Penn State Harrisburg Library’s Morrison Gallery. The event is free and open to the public.
