Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Humanities, this spring, began offering a minor in African American studies designed for students interested in African American culture and the educational, social, political and economic development of people of African descent in the United States.
The Capital Area Writing Project (CAWP), sponsored by Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Behavioral Sciences and Education, has updated its requirements to support teachers as writers and leaders by providing the opportunity to earn National Writing Project (NWP) Badges.

The discussion brought together panelists from across Penn State, government, and the medical field to discuss their research and professional experiences related to racial health disparities.
Penn State Harrisburg’s Diversity and Educational Equity Committee will host “Silenced Voices,” an episodic series about the lived experiences of the Penn State Harrisburg community on the issues of race, religion, gender, disability and other issues.
Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Behavioral Sciences and Education and the Diversity and Educational Equity Committee will host licensed psychologist Pamela Hays from 6 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 2 for a virtual presentation/workshop exploring implicit bias and microaggressions and their relationship to systems of privilege, as well as strategies for building multicultural competence.
