Penn State Harrisburg will welcome Rebecca Skloot and members of Henrietta Lacks’ family for a discussion on campus, at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 25 in the Capital Union Building events room.
The Center for Holocaust and Jewish Studies at Penn State Harrisburg will present a lecture by Natalia Aleksiun, titled “Family Networks and Surviving the Holocaust in Eastern Europe” at noon Thursday, Oct. 25, in the Mukund S. Kulkarni Theatre in the Student Enrichment Center (SEC).
Maria A. Turkson, assistant teaching professor of psychology at Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Behavioral Sciences and Education, will lead an interactive discussion and presentation to bring awareness to domestic violence from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, in room W338 in the Olmsted Building on campus.
As part of this year’s Penn State Harrisburg Reads campaign lecture series, centered around Rebecca Skloot’s groundbreaking book, "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks," the campus will welcome Dr. Joshua Kesterson to present a timeline of cervical cancer’s history from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, in the library Morrison Gallery on campus.
Penn State Harrisburg recently presented Alumni Achievement Awards to one graduate of each of the five academic schools who demonstrates outstanding professional accomplishment. The awards were presented during a ceremony on campus on Sept. 21. Awardees included Stephen Guillard, Judy Hricak, William Pugh, Jay Spector and Susan Steele.

Penn State Harrisburg’s International Study Tours provide students an exciting opportunity to travel the world and learn about different countries through first-hand experience. In spring 2019, the college is offering study tours to London, Rome, and Spain.
Penn State’s seventh annual Exercise is Medicine on Campus week will feature a variety of initiatives and events Oct. 8-12, including a “Class Challenge,” an expanded EIM Everywhere Alumni Initiative, and three Mobile Exercise is Medicine trips to Penn State Hazleton, Harrisburg and Hershey.
