Penn State Harrisburg will welcome Nobuntu, a female a cappella quintet from Zimbabwe, at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, in the Student Enrichment Center Kulkarni Theatre on campus.
Since the 2016 election, most Pennsylvanians have maintained a positive perception of federal and state government; however, public opinion has shifted significantly to reveal a lower overall satisfaction with the federal government’s performance in delivering services such as transportation, parks and recreation, responding to natural disasters, and keeping people safe.
Grady Mathews, assistant professor of civil engineering at Penn State Harrisburg, and Michael Young, one of Mathews' graduate students, are investigating the use of ash from trash incinerators as a replacement for sand in concrete products.
Trash incinerators produce massive amounts of ash, which ends up in landfills. In the United States, available land space for landfills is decreasing, and the construction industry is looking for ways to utilize more sustainable materials. Grady Mathews, assistant professor of civil engineering in the Penn State Harrisburg School of Science, Engineering, and Technology, and his students are testing a process that could provide solutions to both problems.
