One of nation’s foremost public administration scholars will discuss "statelessness" in contemporary America in a public lecture Wednesday, March 28 at Penn State Harrisburg.

As curators of the acclaimed Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, Frank Goodyear and Anne Collins Goodyear, were at the forefront of the extensive renovation of the collection’s landmark home and the re-examination of its collection in Washington, D.C.

The U.S. prison system has seen a remarkable increase in the number of felons incarcerated. With that increase, has mass incarceration grown to become yet another problem facing impoverished communities?

One of the nation’s leading criminal justice scholars, Dr. Todd Clear, will address that question during a public presentation in Penn State Harrisburg’s Olmsted Auditorium at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 28.

A public, day-long symposium to examine issues related to health care and quality of life in the region comes to Penn State Harrisburg Friday, March 2.

Co-sponsored by Penn State Harrisburg, Penn State Dickinson School of Law, and the Penn State College of Medicine, the gathering will bring together experts from academia, the medical professions, and the public sector.

Prints by Jean Sanders are on public exhibit in the Gallery Lounge of the Olmsted Building at Penn State Harrisburg through March 6.

The exhibit is free and open to the public from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 5p.m. Friday.

When the Model United Nations returns to Penn State Harrisburg Feb. 22 to 24 for the 35th consecutive year, participating high school students will not only debate and discuss contemporary world issues, but will return to international topics from 1973.

Pink will replace the traditional blue and white when the Penn State Harrisburg women’s basketball team takes to the court Thursday, Feb. 15.

The next installment in the college Faculty Seminar Series sponsored by the offices of Academic Affairs and research and Graduate Studies will feature a focus on data mining.

Assistant Professor of Computer Science Qin Ding will speak on "Data Mining and Its Applications on Images" from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19 in the Gallery Lounge.

Applications are now being accepted for the Harrisburg Semester public service leadership internships in the state capital this summer.

The opportunity is available to undergraduate students throughout the Penn State system with an application deadline of March 1, 2007.

Penn State Harrisburg’s Visiting Fulbright Scholar from Israel, Dr. Haya Bar-Itzhak, will discuss "In Quest of a Narrative — Ethnography in an Israeli Kibbutz" Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 6:15 p.m. in the Gallery Lounge of the Olmsted Building.

The presentation is based upon research she did for her book, Israeli Folk Narratives: Settlement, Immigration, Ethnicity published by the Wayne State University Press.
