Program Requirements for Admission

Minimum GPA: Formal acceptance is contingent upon maintaining a 3.0 cumulative GPA through the 6th semester, and a collective GPA of 3.3 or better in courses designated MATH, CHEM, C E, or ENVE.

A faculty adviser will help undergraduate candidates determine a sequence of courses that will prepare them for acceptance into the IUG degree program. To apply for the IUG program, students must have completed

  • a minimum of 82 credits;
  • students must be enrolled in or have completed the following courses:
    • C E 335
    • C E 336
    • C E 360
    • C E 370

Student applications will be evaluated based on their overall academic performance, in addition to the above requirements. In all cases, admission to the program will be at the discretion of the Graduate Admissions Committee in Civil Engineering.

How to Begin the Application Process

To initiate the process, students must submit the following:

  • an IUG Degree in Civil Engineering Application Form
  • a transcript/degree audit
  • 3 faculty recommendations (one must be from Penn State Harrisburg)
  • an application for admission to the Graduate School
