About the Theatre

The Student Enrichment Center Theatre at Penn State Harrisburg opened in August of 2016. The Theatre is housed inside the Student Enrichment Center at the south end of the campus quad. The $4 million dollar SEC Theatre is one of the most technologically advanced college theatres in the region, with an investment of nearly a half a million dollars in a state-of-the-art LED lighting system and totally wireless sound system.

The SEC Theatre has hosted a wide variety of events to date including lectures, film showings, seminars and fully produced live theatre, dance and music events. In October of 2016, the theatre was the site of the inaugural PNC Thought Leaders Lecture series featuring economic theory expert Richard Florida. The first live theatre presentation in November 2016 was the 2001 Pulitzer prize-winning play "Proof" by David Auburn, directed by Maria Enriquez. Other events held in the theatre include the annual Model UN program, Steve Rudolph Jazz Quintet, the musical "Avenue Q." and the winter and spring Penn State Harrisburg Choir and Band concerts.
