Bottom Fields

Bringing 30+ years in public education to Penn State Harrisburg, I am assisting Teacher Education in matters pertaining to Pennsylvania Teacher Education and Accreditation. I previously taught elementary and middle school grades at Lower Dauphin School District, and grades 9-12 at Central York School District. My career included two stints at the Pennsylvania Department of Education, first as a curriculum and instruction adviser for Language Arts Education, and later as a Teacher Education Program Review liaison and state NCATE Coordinator. My final years in public school included a role as literacy instruction coach for 70+ faculty. My enthusiasm for literacy and teacher education, and my experience with state government, have found a home here at Penn State Harrisburg. I help our teacher education candidates navigate the state requirements for certification. As the Director of the Capital Area Writing Project (CAWP), I help prepare professional consultants to assist schools with evidence-based literacy education that focuses on effective writing across all subject areas.

Staff Responsibility

I assist the Chair of Teacher Education and the Associate Chair for Assessment and Accreditation in managing data collection and reporting. I provide the division of Teacher Education with timely information about teacher certification requirements and new developments, and I assist program candidates with state required testing, background checks, and applications for teacher certification.
