Overview of the Diversity Awards
The annual Diversity Awards are intended to recognize members of the Penn State Harrisburg community (faculty, staff, and students) who celebrate diversity and demonstrate a commitment to create a safe and supportive community. These individuals display encouragement and understanding between persons of different races, gender, age groups, ethnicity, religious heritage, national origin, indigenous heritage, socio-economic status, disability, or sexual orientation.
Diversity related service should be outside of the individual’s role or position within the University and can take place on- or off-campus. Examples of service include: active involvement in organizations that foster diversity awareness, promoting diversity in teaching, research or service to the college or community, assisting with diversity events and programs, and any other activity that displays a commitment to a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Each spring semester, the Diversity and Educational Equity Committee’s Awards Subcommittee will review nominations and select individuals to be recognized for their diversity efforts. One faculty, one staff, and one student will be recognized each year.
Eligibility
All faculty, staff, and students of Penn State Harrisburg are eligible.
Note: Nominations for the Student Diversity Award are on a separate form.
