Student Activity Fee

The Student Activity Fee is a fee that every registered student at Penn State Harrisburg is required to pay. The purpose of the SAF is to provide students with the funds to enhance their co-curricular campus experience.  The request for SAF funding is submitted to the SAF committee. This committee is responsible for reviewing proposals and allocating activity fee monies in a manner that is consistent with the purpose of the fee.

Examples of programs that the Student Activity Fee Funds have supported:

  • Residence Life — Play in New York
  • Graduate Student Association — Lecture Paul Rusesabagina — Hotel Rwanda
  • Student Government Association — Laser Tag
  • International Film Festival
  • Fencing Club — Equipment

When and how can I submit a proposal?

Note that the form will close briefly at the end of each announced submission period, and re-open soon after for submissions for the next review period. The SAF Allocation Committee will meet four times in each academic year to review proposals. You will be notified upon the submission of a proposal when the next decision date will take place. The decision dates will also be heavily advertised a few weeks prior to their deadlines.

Who are the members of the Student Activity Fee Committee?

The SAF committee is comprised of six students representative of the campus student population; Typically the representation looks like the following:

  • Director of Student Affairs, Co-Chair
  • President SGA, Co-Chair
  • One traditional undergraduate student
  • One non-traditional undergraduate student
  • One graduate student
  • One faculty member
  • One staff member
  • One commuter student
  • One resident student
  • One staff assistant
