Penn State Harrisburg will hold a Doctoral Programs Information Night on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 6:00 p.m. in the library.
The event will offer interested individuals the opportunity to learn more about the college’s three doctoral programs in adult education, American studies, and public administration; meet with faculty and students; and garner more information about admission requirements and financial aid.

Local high school students had a chance this summer to do the type of cutting edge research at Penn State Harrisburg that would be impossible in a high school classroom.
For some, it could be a life changing event leading them into one of the STEM disciplines that are becoming increasingly important in today's job market.
The Penn State Harrisburg engineering students who built a “hover-barrow” -- a wheelbarrow that floats on air -- started with a simple sketch on a piece of paper.
They then transferred their sketch to a computer and made calculations.
They built a prototype…It didn't work.
They went back to the computer and tried again…and again.
In June, David Cramer, a chef at Penn State Harrisburg’s Stack’s food court, was one of eight Penn State chefs to win a culinary competition at the 2013 Chef Culinary Conference in Amherst, Mass. The group, along with a chef from the University of Massachusetts, competed in the California Asian Fusion Challenge sponsored by Johnson & Wales.
Penn State Harrisburg graduate Oscar Beisert, ’07 master’s in American studies, received the Irwin Richman Scholarship in American Studies during the 2006-07 academic year, but the reward he received went beyond just a monetary supplement – it helped him advance his career in the years to follow. The experience helped the student form a working relationship with Dr. Irwin Richman himself, a professor emeritus of American studies and history and, along with his wife Dr. M. Susan Richman, associate professor emerita of mathematical sciences, a donor to the college.
A gift from TE Connectivity, a world leader in connectivity, will provide Penn State Harrisburg engineering students in the School of Science, Engineering, and Technology with expanded experiential learning opportunities.
Like a scene out of a Rocky movie…“moralers” coaching them on, massages to loosen up stiff muscles, and an endless supply of ice packs, Penn State Harrisburg students Joe Sadusky and Hana Suders joined 710 dancers at the Bryce Jordan Center in February to participate in the annual tradition of THON, smashing the college’s fundraising goal by raising more than $53,000.
