Alumna receives University achievement award

Penn State Harrisburg alumna Susan E. Dickinson, of Mechanicsburg, Pa., was recognized with the 2013 Penn State Alumni Association’s Alumni Achievement Award. She is the sixth Penn State Harrisburg graduate to receive this honor.

Two non-profit agencies tap Penn State Harrisburg PR students for local campaigns

An estimated 55,000 undergraduate college students are living in the greater Harrisburg area.

Nonprofit agencies like the American Red Cross and Central Pennsylvania Food Bank see these students as a vast untapped resource - and the next generation of volunteers.

Both agencies had targeted college students for volunteer recruitment, but neither had an effective strategy for how to reach them.

ITS Department receives 2013 IT Impact Award

The Information Technology Services (ITS) Department at Penn State Harrisburg was honored with a 2013 IT Impact Award for Out-of-the-Box Innovation in June.  Given by Penn State, the IT Impact Awards recognize the outstanding efforts of information technology professionals who have taken leadership roles in creating a thriving environment for IT collaboration, creativity, and innovation.

Penn State Harrisburg hosts Young Writers Academy

Penn State Harrisburg hosted the Young Writers Academy from June 24-28. The event was intended to help young writers cultivate their storytelling skills.

The week-long program for writers in grades 5-12 included workshops such as - “Science Fiction & Fantasy: It’s Out of this World!” for students in grades 5-8 and “The Art of Short Fiction” for students in grades 9-12.
