Penn State Harrisburg today held the Capital Region Internship Fair in the Capital Union Building on campus. The event featured more than 95 employers across several industries and drew more than 400 students.
Penn State Harrisburg will host an Undergraduate Open House on Saturday, October 15 at 9 a.m. in the Capital Union Building on campus.
The event will provide information to prospective students about the college’s more than 30 bachelor’s degree programs, as well as options for completing the first two years of study leading to more than 160 undergraduate majors offered throughout Penn State.
Author Lori Jakiela, known as “the queen of the wise one-liner,” will visit Penn State Harrisburg as part the School of Humanities’ Writers Series on Monday, October 3 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Kunkle Auditorium, Olmsted Building.
Lisa Allen, grants and contracts administrator, in Penn State Harrisburg’s Office of Research and Outreach, is the 2016 recipient of the Penn State Administrative Committee on Research (ACOR) Outstanding Service Award. Allen received the award at the ACOR annual retreat in August. It recognizes her efforts that go above and beyond to support the research enterprise at Penn State Harrisburg.

Nationally renowned speaker on urban studies, social and economic theory Richard Florida will present the inaugural keynote address of the PNC Thought Leaders Lecture Series at Penn State Harrisburg, Wednesday, October 12, at 4:30 p.m. in the college’s Student Enrichment Center theater.
The Edna Bennett Pierce Prevention Research Center and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation have released a social and emotional learning brief—Teacher Stress and Health: Effects on Teachers, Students and Schools—the first in a 10-part series. This first brief examines the causes and consequences of teacher stress—a growing problem with nearly one-half of teachers reporting high daily stress and more teachers leaving the profession than ever before.
