As part of the college’s community outreach efforts, Dr. Michael Chorney, professor of microbiology and chair of the biology and science programs at Penn State Harrisburg, partnered with the Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) recently to give a Bite of Science presentation on how to better prepare middle and high school students for high education programs in the sciences.

Julian Voloj will present “Beta Israel: Photographs from Ethiopia” as part of the Penn State Harrisburg Center for Holocaust and Jewish Studies speaker series, on Monday, December 5 at noon in the library Morrison Gallery on campus. The gallery opening show will run from December 5, 2016 through May 1, 2017.
Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Science, Engineering, and Technology (SSET) kicked off “We Are Weekend” by hosting alumni, students, and families during their second reunion.
The festivities took place in conjunction with the campus-wide celebration of Penn State Harrisburg’s 50th anniversary on October 15. More than 125 faculty, students, and alumni filled the Educational Activities Building for lunch, open lab tours, and pumpkin decorating.
Enrollment at Penn State Harrisburg has reached a record high. The fall 2016 enrollment increased from 4,678 to 5,046, an increase of 368 students, according to recent Penn State data. The college reached this enrollment milestone two years ahead of its projected date and has had continuous growth over the past 15 years.
Penn State Harrisburg will hold its fall commencement on Saturday, December 17 at 9:30 a.m. at the Giant Center, Hershey, Pennsylvania. More than 700 degrees will be conferred at the ceremony.
Ralph Stengler, president of Hochschule Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (h_da), will deliver the keynote address at the ceremony.
The inaugural presentation of the PNC Thought Leaders Lecture Series at Penn State Harrisburg took place on October 12 in the college’s new Student Enrichment Center theater. Renowned urban studies and economic theory expert Richard Florida spoke to students, faculty, staff, and community members.
