Xie elected International Water Association fellow
Yuefeng Xie, professor of environmental engineering, has been elected a fellow of the International Water Association (IWA), a global network of water professionals headquartered in the United Kingdom. Xie, of Middletown, was nominated for his research in disinfection byproducts and for his training of water professionals.
The IWA Fellows program recognizes water professionals who have made significant contributions to the field of water science, technology and management. Approximately 130 members have been elected as fellows since the program began in 2010.
Xie is internationally known for his work in disinfection byproduct analysis and control, small water systems, and professional training. Xie was co-founder of the Small Public Water Systems Technology Assistance Center at Penn State Harrisburg. He also has written and edited two books, and served as associate editor and board member of international journals. He has received the prestigious Fulbright Scholar award from the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board; the Special Recognition Award from the Pennsylvania American Water Works Association; and the Professional Research Award from the Pennsylvania Water Environmental Association.
