Penn State Harrisburg School of Business Goes High-Tech
The School of Business Administration at Penn State Harrisburg has installed a 10’ x 6’ high-definition video information wall and an electronic stock ticker on the third floor of the Olmsted Building near the school’s offices.
The energy efficient screens highlight business school news such as club meetings, events, and guest speakers, as well as up-to-the-minute business news developments, headlines from around the world, and sports scores.
School of Business Administration Director Dr. Stephen Schappe is hopeful that the video boards will help to start a conversation among faculty, staff, and students. “The attractive new wall will serve as a landmark for the business school and keep students informed about events in the school, on campus, and beyond,” said Schappe.
They are already catching students’ attention. “The video boards are a great addition to the School of Business and the campus. They are helping me stay connected with what is happening on campus and in the world,” said sophomore Supply Chain Management major Brady Galbraith.
The displays were made possible, in part, by gifts from the Klinger Family Business School Program Fund and the IT Advisory Board Program Fund in honor of Dr. Gayle Yaverbaum.
Dr. Schappe is hopeful that the screens will soon showcase personalized news for students such as real-time developments from the student investment club, which invests in a real stock portfolio.
