Ninth graders from area high schools will receive an in-depth look at careers related to math and science when Penn State Harrisburg hosts the first Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Career Launch (STEM) on Thursday, March 15.
The program is designed to provide the students with an understanding of the course work and requirements and to encourage higher education study in mathematics and science related areas.
Seventy-five students from Harrisburg High School, Harrisburg SciTech High, and Middletown Area High School have been invited to interact with professionals who work in careers utilizing mathematics and science.
Following the 9 a.m. opening session, small groups of students will meet in 30-minute periods in which presenters will interactively explain 12 different careers.
The event is sponsored by the college’s Office of Multicultural Recruitment and Community Affairs. For information, phone 717-948-6297.
