Dr. Patria de Lancer Julnes

Dr. Patria de Lancer Julnes, director of Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Public Affairs, has been named a Fulbright Specialist.  She will travel to Thessaloniki, Greece in early May.

The Fulbright Specialist Program sends U.S. faculty and professionals to serve as expert consultants on curriculum, faculty development, institutional planning, and related subjects at academic institutions abroad for a period of 2 to 6 weeks.

Student designed projects bridge academics with real life applications and showcase inventive ideas.

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detector, alarms that notify you when a child or pet is left in a hot car, and a search and rescue mini-micro-mouse that searches for survivors in a disaster zone are just a few of the innovative and creative student-designed projects that will be on display at the Penn State Harrisburg School of Science, Engineering and Technology’s annual Capstone Design Conference, on Friday, May 5, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on campus.

Dr. Shaun L. Gabbidon, Distinguished Professor of criminal justice in Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Public Affairs has been selected as the new editor of the Journal of Criminal Justice Education (JCJE) by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS) Executive Board and the JCJE Search Committee.

Electrical Engineering and Electrical Engineering Technology students from Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Science, Engineering and Technology won two awards in the annual Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) Region 2 Student Activities Conference, hosted by Rowan University April 7 through 9.

When 30,000 candidates applied for a coveted management training program at L'Oréal, the Fortune 500 cosmetics company, only 60 would be selected. 

One of the 60 was David Hung Yang, a 2015 Penn State Harrisburg graduate with degrees in management and marketing.

James Franklin

James Franklin, Penn State head football coach, will deliver the keynote address at Penn State Harrisburg’s spring commencement Saturday, May 6. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the college will confer nearly 700 undergraduate and graduate degrees during the 9:30 a.m. ceremony at the Hershey Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Gunther Gochenauer presents on students' experience attending the SANS Security conference.

Students in Penn State Harrisburg’s Cyber Lions club, a student-run organization that focuses on extending information systems technology and security and risk analysis education beyond the classroom, attended the SANS Security East Conference early this semester in New Orleans, Louisiana. The group, which included Edward Corbett; Katlynn Lenker; Jared Trigilli; Gunther Gochenauer; and Jayson Coulter, gained valuable knowledge and trained alongside experienced professionals.

Two Penn State Harrisburg programs have been named in the U.S. News and World Report list of top graduate schools for 2018. The MBA offered in the School of Business Administration has been included in the publication’s part-time MBA list and degrees in education offered in the School of Behavioral Sciences and Education have been named on the publication’s list of schools of education that offer a doctorate.
