Lisa Allen, M.Ed., CRA
Lisa Allen joined Penn State Harrisburg in 2005 as the Senior Research Support Associate in the Office of Research and Graduate Studies. Her main role was to support faculty with their activities to secure external funding (proposal submissions and grants management). Other responsibilities included working with graduate students to complete their term appointments for Graduate Assistantships and Fellowships, coordinating the Graduate Student Family Day and Student Research Symposium.
Lisa’s role was officially expanded in 2010 as the Grants and Contracts Administrator for the campus. In addition to helping faculty with proposal submissions to external sponsors (e.g. NSF, USDA, DOJ, NIH, etc.) she also provides technical assistance, support and training in the area of grants management to faculty and budget assistants in each of the schools.
Lisa came to Penn State with an extensive background in Human Services. She served in various capacities for several Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol (D&A) and Development Disability organizations across the state of Pennsylvania. As a Program and Regional Director, she was successful at obtaining funding at the local, state and federal levels. She was responsible for the overall operations of 2 Outpatient D&A facilities in Harrisburg, PA and Bucks County, PA with oversight of another in the Pittsburgh area.
Lisa continues to be actively involved with those facing special challenges by serving on committees and offering her voice as an advocate whenever possible. She has been a support advocate with The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s Team HOPE since 2008.
