Issam Abu-Mahfouz joined Penn State Harrisburg in 1999 as a faculty of mechanical engineering in the school of Science Engineering and Technology. He has taught courses in computer aided design (CAD), finite element analysis (FEA), automatic controls, mechatronics, instrumentation, fluid power, design for manufacturability, dynamics, vibrations, optimization, energy systems, and smart systems. His research interests include machine condition monitoring, nonlinear vibrations, chaotic dynamics, machinery noise and vibration isolation, and the application of artificial intelligence to manufacturing processes. Dr. Abu Mahfouz continues to provide engineering consulting services in designing and developing new products, vibration and noise isolation, and machinery failure prevention. He is a licensed professional engineer.
