Penn State Harrisburg offers training in project management that meets or exceeds PMI’s high quality standards. Our program consists of two-day stand alone courses.

These two-day courses will help to ensure the success of your projects, and teach you to:

  • Set practical project goals and realistic schedules

  • Develop a project plan

  • Build project teams

  • Manage time constraints and people pressures

About the Program

These courses teach the fundamentals of how to deliver projects on time and within budget. The courses will touch on areas such as defining scope of a project and using project management tools, as well as learning skills to manage project teams.

The courses are designed for individuals from nontechnical fields who are new to project management; managers who must deal with multiple projects; and those who are looking for formal project management training.

Project Management I: Tools and Techniques of Project Management

Gain a solid foundation of the tools and techniques of project management. Learn the basics of establishing a project scope, how to utilize planning and scheduling tools, and understand the importance of project monitoring. Two-day, 14 hour; 1.4 CEUs.

Project Management II: The "People Side" of Project Management

Penn State is a Project Management Institute (PMI)® Registered Education Provider and approved to issue professional development units (PDUs) for this course. This course is registered for 14 PDUs. Activity ID # for this course is MNGMT 5502. Talent Triangle for PDUs is 75% Leadership and 25% Strategic.

This course includes the DiSC assessment administered by a certified DiSC instructor. This tool is valuable in enhancing team and leadership relationships and communications. In addition, learn what project management means today and how to enhance your communication throughout a project. Learn effective methods for communicating with different personalities, working with a team, and discuss the importance of risk management. Two-day, 14 hour; 1.4 CEUs.

Project Management III: Budgets, Priority Management, Leadership, and Project Closeout

Learn to how to develop reliable cost estimates and budgets through leadership and priority management. Learn how to successfully complete and close-out a project.
