At Penn State Harrisburg, student clubs and organizations are recognized as an important part of the college experience. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the many opportunities available. There are more than 50 clubs and organizations you can choose from, including academic, cultural, social and special interest. Accounting Club

Promotes better understanding of the accounting profession.

Alpha Sigma Lambda

The Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society is a unique organization dedicated to the recognition of the accomplishments of adult students. The Penn State Harrisburg Theta Iota Chapter was established in 1993.

American Society of Civil Engineers

Promotes the advancement and dissemination of knowledge of the theory and practice of civil engineering

American Society of Mechanical Engineers

Promotes the advancement and dissemination of knowledge of the theory and practice of mechanical engineering.

American Studies/Humanities

The objectives of this organization shall be to provide a formal or informal atmosphere for students of any major to come together and view, experience, and/or discuss issues, items or events which involve any of the various disciplines of and related to American Studies and other Humanities, including, but not limited to, art, architecture, literature, philosophy, music, theater, dance, crafts, languages, cultures, anthropology, archaeology, art history, and history.

Anime Club

Promotes the understanding of Japanese culture and history via the viewing and discussion of Japanese Animation.

Applied Psychology

Fosters a sense of pride and belonging in both students of Applied Clinical Psychology and Applied Psychology Research Programs and the faculty alike.

Association for Computing Machinery

The objectives of the organization are to foster an involvement in the awareness of the development of the general computing environment.

Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development

ASCD is an international, nonprofit, nonpartisan education association.

Black Student Union

Enhances awareness of Black cultural at Penn State Harrisburg through cultural/educational programs.

Blue and White Society (Harrisburg Chapter)

The student organization affiliated with the Alumni Association, that aims to enhance student life through promoting Penn State pride, community service, and dedication to the University.

Boxing Club

The Penn State Harrisburg Boxing Club is devoted to helping develop character, self-confidence, self-defense, physical health, individual achievement, and teamwork through the sport of boxing. We welcome students, staff, and faculty, of all skill levels, interests, and backgrounds; and we encourage every individual to be the best they can be, physically and mentally, through a structured, professional, safe training program. We strive to be an exceptional sport which embodies the spirit of Penn State Harrisburg athletics.

Business Management Club

To develop a better understanding of the nature and the functions of business management and its relations to all other focuses in the business field. To supply members with the information about the most current methods of managing a business, team building, and business structure.

Capital Alliance

Capital Alliance is established on three tenets: Scholarship, Support, and Service. These tenets drive our purpose to improve the visibility, strength, and support of The Pennsylvania State University lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, and allied (LGBTQA) communities through and educational and social environment. Students who identify themselves as LGBTQ are enabled to interact with other individuals who share like identities, along with allied (heterosexual) support, in a positive, comfortable, and confidential atmosphere.

Capital Players

This organization stages plays using currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff for presentation on campus and in outreach settings.

Capital Times

The Capital Times, or Captimes as it is often called, is the Penn State Harrisburg student newspaper. The Captimes is published every 2 weeks, with 8 issues a semester and 16 issues a year. Like other clubs and organizations, the Captimes is run by students and has a faculty adviser.

Cheerleading

The purpose of this organization shall be: to promote and uphold school spirit; to develop a sense of good sportsmanship among the students: to better relationships between schools during all athletic events; to rank nationally to the Universal Cheerleading Association's standards.

Chess Club, Pennsylvania State University Capital College Chess Club

The purpose of the Organization is to teach and promote the art of chess play on the Penn State Harrisburg campus. To provide a place where anyone interested in chess can come learn and/or hone their skills and enjoy the company of fellow chess players.

Chi Gamma Iota Fraternity (XGI)

Fraternal organization focused on providing moral and scholastic support to former service personnel and contributing to the community through various service projects.

Chinese Student Association

The main goal of the Chinese Student Association is to get Chinese students at Penn State Harrisburg involved in campus activities both academically and socially.

Club For A Cure

Raise awareness of pediatric cancer and involve Penn State Harrisburg students in efforts to raise money to donate to various charitable organizations and helpful funds that support children and families that have suffered or are suffering from many types of pediatric cancer.

Current Events Club

The goal of this organization is to provide a forum for all students with Political Science, and Public Policy majors, as well as any other interested student on the Penn State Harrisburg campus to meet and discuss political matters in our community, state, country, and world. We also want to bring attention and build interest in politics and public policy to students at Penn State Harrisburg. One specific purpose will be to provide support to any interested student in pursuing internships, graduate school, and law school through guest speakers involved in policy making and educational trips to learn firsthand. We hope to achieve these goals through campus events including guest speakers, trips, movie nights, and service activities.

Dance Team

To provide an opportunity for students at Penn State Harrisburg to express their love and passion for the art of music and dance at Penn state Harrisburg, Harrisburg, and neighboring cities. It gives an opportunity to students who have a talent in making music and dancing to show off their skills and learn different styles of dancing.

The Finance Club promotes the educational and professional advancement of finance students

From the Fallout Shelter

From the Fallout Shelter is Penn State Harrisburg's literary and arts magazine. Founded in 1971, the magazine (formerly called Tarnhelm) appears annually and publishes students' creative works, including poetry, short stories, photography, paintings, graphics, creative essays, and one-act plays. Students in all programs across the campus are invited to submit their creations anonymously. Student editors and staff member select submissions for publication and award prizes for best poem, short story, and visual art.

History Club

We the students of Penn State Harrisburg, in order to preserve and remember the past of all civilizations, enhance our historical knowledge, and work in a hands-on fashion with History, establish this Constitution for the Penn State Harrisburg campus.

Hockey Club

The Lion's Hockey Club's purpose is to be a community who shares common interest in the game of hockey, while promoting teamwork, dedication, health and wellness.

Human Development and Family Studies Club

The purpose of the Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) club is to promote outreach efforts to community agencies and to expand the understanding of the Human Development and Family studies major. The club will provide education and opportunity for professional development in the Human Development and Family studies field or any other service area of interest.

The HDFS club will build open communication with service agencies. The club is designed to create diversity, international opportunity and education for all Penn State Harrisburg Students. Membership in the Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS)Club shall be open to any students regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, creed, national origin, age, handicap, disability, ancestry, or veteran status. The club shall strive to encourage a diverse membership, fun and healthy environment for all Penn State Harrisburg students while continuing to volunteer, fundraise and help the non-profit business/individuals in the community.

Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE)

Promotes electrical engineering, electronics and radio, and professional development among the electrical engineering technology students.

International Affairs Association

Promotes the understanding of international relations and sponsors the annual Penn State Harrisburg Model United Nations

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship

The organization is associated with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA. The purpose of the Chapter is to establish and advance at Penn State Harrisburg witnessing communities of students and faculty who follow Jesus as Savior and Lord: growing in love for God, God’s Word, God’s people of every ethnicity and culture and God’s purposes in the world.

Kappa Alpha Psi

To promote the spiritual, intellectual, and moral welfare of it's members and to inspire service in the public interest.

Kappa Beta Gamma

It shall be the purpose of the Phi Chapter of Kappa Beta Gamma National Sorority to unite young women who express strong character, culture, and courage. Each member will live by these attributes to develop strong sisterhood social ties. Each member will pursue service, scholarship, and spirit in dedication to Kappa Beta Gamma. Men's Volleyball Club

This organization is to promote good sportsmanship among fellow teammates and playing the sport of volleyball at a competitive level. To provide the Penn State Harrisburg, Men's Volleyball Club with self-governing authority to participate in and sponsor competitive volleyball at a superior level, to assemble the most competitive team consistent with the player talent, and insure that the members receive a memorable season of play.

Outing Club

Promotes interest in outdoor activities to the student body of Penn State Harrisburg including but not limited to camping, hiking, backpacking, canoeing, climbing, and cycling.

Parent Support Group

To promote a social support network for parents who are obtaining their education while expecting or raising a child. The club will also the club will educate others about the challenges and rewards involved in furthering your education as a parent.

Stimulates professional development among engineering technology students.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity

In order to provide a medium for the encouragement of high scholastic and social achievements, we establish the Epsilon Omicron Chapter of Phi Sigma Phi National Fraternity, Inc., located at Penn State Harrisburg.

Phi Sigma Upsilon

We provide an opportunity for students to take a look into the criminal justice field and get hands on experience through knowledge and observation. We intend to broaden your horizons by exposing you to different careers in the Criminal Justice field.

Philosophy Club

The purpose of the Philosophy Club us to provide an informal, social atmosphere in which students can explore philosophical topics, which can include, but are not limited to Religion, Art, Politics and Ethics. The Philosophy Club will also strive to foster an environment in which students are free to voice their opinions without the threat of reprisal. Members of The Philosophy Club are encouraged to be tolerant, open minded, and value other members’ opinions. While a good spirited debate is encouraged, The Philosophy Club will not permit verbal attacks or slander.

Photo Club

The Photo Club is for any student who has an interest in photography, from the experienced photographer to someone just testing out a new camera. The club has its own darkroom and digital photography equipment. It has regular meetings and events during the school year. For more information call 948-6391.

Planewalkers of Penn State Harrisburg

The organization is an all-inclusive club in which all members share an interest in Magic: The Gathering. The purpose of this organization is to bring together players of the trading card game. Magic: The Gathering to play games, trade cards, and further enhance newer players' understanding of the game. Privileges granted to each member will be fellowship, food, and the ability to compete in club-sanctioned tournaments for prizes centered on Magic: The Gathering, free of charge, or, if charged guaranteed to receive a consolation prize for competing in club-sanctioned tournaments.

Pre-Law Club

The Pre-Law Club consists of undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff who are fascinated about enhancing their knowledge in the Legal System and any subject matter as it relates to Law. The Pre-Law Club is designed for students with the intent to aspire in the field of Law and attend law school upon graduation or in the near future.

Student Government Association

Governing body of student population, the SGA strives to voice opinions on all issues that contribute to the betterment of student life at Penn State Harrisburg.

SGA meetings are held every Thursday from noon to 1:00 p.m in TL 118 and are open to the entire campus community. The first meeting on the year will be held on 09/06/2012.

To foster scientific study and research in the field of environmentally sustainable building and operation of buildings. To develop and disseminate knowledge in sustainable building research and design; to improve the methods and design of sustainable buildings. As well as to promote the understanding, adoption and use of environmentally sustainable design, construction, and building operation practices across the Penn State Harrisburg campus.

WPSH Student Radio

"The Reactor" features DJs with musical interests ranging from rock to hip-hop and news broadcasts, featuring information about sports and other activities at Penn State. The Reactor has listeners in over 30 countries and it is always looking for new members.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Interest Group

The purpose of the Zeta Interest Group is to establish a chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. on the Penn State Harrisburg campus. Encourage and promote high scholastic attainment. Cultivate an environment in which friendship, social relationships and sisterly love can be developed. Emphasize the value of poise and personal dignity and define the noble concept of Finer Womanhood. Encourage one another to develop leadership abilities and individual talents.
