STEM Career Launch
Designed to introduce ninth grade students to science, technology, math, and business environments, this program provides hands-on sessions of discovery and mentoring.
The meeting point prior to the first session is the John Kunkle Auditorium (Olmsted Building). Established by the college’s Office of Multicultural Recruitment & Community Affairs, the program gives high school students exposure to STEM careers and encourages the consideration of higher education in math and science related areas through interaction with faculty, staff, college students, and local business professionals.
“We know that opportunities exist for which many students are underprepared and this is an effort to improve awareness of critical career areas,” said Barbara A. Thompson, the office director.
A total of 120 high school students from Central Dauphin, Harrisburg, Middletown, Steelton-Highspire, and Susquehanna Township school districts will participate this year.
