Movie Night in the Park
Middletown and Hummelstown Railroad’s Annual Civil War Remembered Weekend
History buffs and Civil War enthusiasts will have an opportunity for a unique experience when the Borough of Middletown presents its final Movie Night in the Park of the season. Lincoln, Steven Spielberg’s award winning movie will be shown under the stars in Hoffer Park, while Civil War re-enactors are camped nearby.
The re-enactors, who will be on hand for the Middletown and Hummelstown Railroad’s Annual Civil War Remembered weekend, will allow movie goers to get a first-hand look at the life of the men who fought on both sides in the war. During the Civil War Remembered event, re-enactors portray Civil War scenarios in fields alongside the M&H’s tracks, allowing passengers to take a ride through a history lesson outside the windows of the line’s historic restored coaches. Trains will depart the M&H’s station at 136 Brown Street at 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. “Lincoln” will be shown at 8:00 p.m. In between, visitors can also visit the M&H’s display of historic rolling stock, which includes freight and passenger cars from as far back as the 1800s, along with antique trolleys and street cars. Visitors can also enjoy dinner between their train ride and the movie.
Middletown offers a variety of outstanding dining options, running the gamut from pizza and sandwiches to fine dining.
